They left it late, but Rangers are set to get a crucial deal over the line on deadline day.

It has been a hectic summer for the Glasgow giants as Philippe Clement looks to rebuild his squad at Ibrox.

Seven players have left Rangers this summer and eight new signings have arrived, but Rangers still have business to conclude before Friday’s 11pm deadline.

Rangers have been keen on signing Josip Brekalo this summer and it seems that their pursuit of the winger will go down to the wire.

A space for Brekalo is about to open up with Todd Cantwell about to seal his Rangers exit.

Rangers agree Todd Cantwell deal

Cantwell made it blindingly clear that he wanted to leave Rangers this summer after handing in a transfer request to the club at the end of last season.

But finding a solution for the 26-year-old has been harder than most imagined and with just hours remaining on the window Cantwell is still on the books at Ibrox.

But BBC journalist Andy Bayes has now claimed that Blackburn Rovers have reached a full agreement to sign Cantwell from Rangers.

Via X, Bayes said “Todd Cantwell deal all agreed. Shouldn’t be long for an announcement.”

Cantwell travelled to Blackburn to complete a medical and it is now set for him to finalise his move.

Rangers lose ‘exceptional’ Todd Cantwell

When Rangers signed Cantwell for just £1.5m from Norwich City in 2022, it looked like a steal for the Scottish side, and it was unimaginable to picture them making a loss on him.

Yet that might become a reality this summer after Blackburn agreed a deal for the former Norwich star.

Cantwell is set to leave Rangers after scoring 14 goals in 64 appearances – not quite the turnout that Gers fans would have hoped for.

The former Norwich star was hailed “exceptional” during his time with the Canaries and he now has a chance to rediscover his form in the Championship.
