Sean Goss’ time with Rangers is at an end, bringing to a close a bizarre time at Ibrox for the midfielder.

When Sean Goss looks back on his time at Ibrox he will view his spell at Rangers as one of the most exciting and disappointing spells of his career.
Goss confirmed the end of his loan spell this week, via Instagram, and he is not thought to be making a return to Ibrox, with new manager Steven Gerrard looking for fresh ideas.
When he arrived at Ibrox, Goss was derided as ‘just another loanee’, who would follow the likes of Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral in making fleeting yet largely forgettable mid-season arrivals at the club the year earlier.

Competition for places in the Rangers midfield was tough, especially with Greg Docherty signing at the same time, but Goss surpassed all expectations, impressing on tour in the US and forcing his way into the team.
In February Goss was being hailed as a big success, and Rangers boss at the time Graeme Murty expressed his hope at the time he could sign him on a permanent basis.
Briefly, he became the club’s big hope. A former Manchester United talent, Rangers hoped they were really tapping into a blossoming superstar.

Goss was in demand, but a poor game against Celtic in the 3-2 defeat signalled the beginning of the end of his Rangers spell.
He was listless against Scott Brown and could not dictate the play as he had in the cup games against lower division sides he had early on, which perhaps gave in inflated sense of his ability.
After that match he started only two league games out of a possible eight for Rangers, and was snubbed for the 4-0 and 5-0 losses against Celtic.
Perhaps they would have been better off using him, but the fact he went from their great hope to discounted by Murty will be a big disappointment to Goss.
He should be proud that he managed to surpass expectations and start games for the Gers, even scoring, but his bright start was quickly extinguished by their bitter rivals.
