Rangers ace Ross McCrorie reveals his discussion with Ibrox club defender Bruno Alves.
Glasgow Rangers defender Ross McCrorie has been one of the brightest young talents to have emerged from the club’s academy in recent years.
He is a terrific young player, and has seamlessly settled into the senior squad, producing a string of strong performances already.
Against Aberdeen in the midweek, he played as a defensive midfielder, and looked at ease, which shows his maturity and adaptability.
The 19-year-old says that he was gutted and felt like a disaster after he made a blunder against Hamilton.
He gave a poor back-pass that allowed David Templeton to score, and it led them to a 2-0 victory over the Gers.
However, a pep talk from club teammate Bruno Alves has restored his belief that he is good enough to play for Rangers.
He reveals that Alves told him to be confident again, and made him feel better. McCrorie adds that the Euro 2016 winner has been great with him, and that he is thankful that he helped him.
“The Hamilton game was pretty disastrous for me. I didn’t enjoy it at all but it happens – there are going to be mistakes,” said McCrorie, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“When we came back to training Bruno spoke to me. He said it was all about my reaction now and told me to be confident again.
“Bruno said he’d done something similar. It meant a lot coming from a guy like him who has won a Euros medal. It made me feel better and realise that mistakes are natural. It will make me a better player.
“Bruno wanted me to be confident in my next game – and that’s what I did. I’m so thankful he spoke to me. He’s been great with me and has a wealth of experience. He and Danny Wilson help me during games.”
