Aaron Ramsey has told Wednesday’s press conference that he had the stories about the Rangers fans before he joined the Ibrox club. The midfielder is expected to be involved on Thursday, as Rangers face Braga.

Ramsey, 31, has endured an up and down loan spell so far – suffering a couple of setbacks along the way but also scoring a couple of goals, against Dundee and Celtic. He got 45 minutes against St. Mirren on Sunday.

The Gers welcome Portuguese side Braga to Ibrox for the second time in a few years – having knocked them out of the Europa League in 2019. Now, they must overcome a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to reach the semi-finals.

They are certainly capable of doing so having already surpassed Red Star Belgrade and Borussia Dortmund. Doing so could set up a potential clash against either Atalanta or RB Leipzig. Rangers will need their fans.

Ramsey was chosen for media duties on Wednesday morning – perhaps a sign he could be involved against Braga – and he spoke about the Rangers fans. He said he was told stories about the Ibrox crowd before joining.

Ramsey on Rangers fans: Why he must start against Braga…

Rangers need to be on the front foot, but also boast the patience required to dispatch of Braga in front of their home crowd. To do that, they need attacking flair combined with European experience – and Ramsey has both.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to be bold in his approach. Joe Aribo came on last Thursday and impressed. So, surely, a 4-2-3-1 comprising of Ryan Kent, Ramsey and Aribo behind Kemar Roofe is the way to go?
