Rangers ace Lassana Coulibaly spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 0-0 draw with Villarreal last night, and shared what Steven Gerrard told the players in the dressing room after the game, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
The Gers’ hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Europa League is now in their own hands, and a win away at Rapid Vienna in two weeks time will safely secure their passage through from the group.
Gerrard has totally transformed Rangers since taking over at Ibrox in the summer.
The Glasgow giants currently sit in second spot in the Scottish Premiership table, just two points adrift of Celtic, and they seem like they are much harder to beat than they were last term.
Last night’s 0-0 draw with Villarreal was evidence of this.
Coulibaly spoke to reporters, and opened up on the message that Gerrard gave the Rangers players after the game, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times:
“It is a good point for us and we know that we will give everything against Rapid Vienna to get our qualification. [The manager] says it was very good because it is not easy to play ten against 11 so everyone had to work hard from the keeper to the striker. Everyone gave all their energy so he was happy for that.”
Next up for Rangers is a trip to Hearts on Sunday. They then face a home game against Aberdeen and a trip to Dundee before they head to Austria to take on Rapid Vienna, and Gerrard would love his side to head into the Europa League decider on the back of three consecutive league wins.
