Rangers defender Bruno Alves comments on icon’s Portugal future.

Rangers defender Bruno Alves has given his take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal future.
The centre-back is currently reeling from World Cup elimination with Portugal after they were eliminated by Uruguay at the last 16.
Speculation has built up over whether Ronaldo will continue as an international.

Alves told Mais Futebol: “I do not know, he more than anyone knows what will happen, I would like to continue to rely on him, I think he will always be available to Portugal, he has to decide what is best.
“I can only comment as a friend and as a proud person that he is part of Portugal, I am happy to be part of his life.”
Alves also commented on Portugal’s elimination, commenting: “The game with Uruguay was the best game we have played but we have not been able to win.”

Rangers defender Alves did not play at the World Cup, kept as an unused substitute.
At 36 it was likely Alves’ last chance at international football’s bigget trophy, although he may feel he has an outside chance of making Euro 2020.
To stand a chance, he will have to step his game up at Rangers and win a starting place ahead of new signings Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
