Rangers have scored nine goals in their last two games – it’s a far cry from the anaemic performances under Warburton.

It may be over six months since Joey Barton’s Rangers renaissance crumbled into dust with a 5-1 humiliation at Celtic hands and an old-fashioned training ground ruckus.
Yet, that does not mean the rest of the squad are ready to put the whole sorry business behind them and invite the combustible midfielder up to Glasgow any time soon, as reported by the Daily Record.
And the same could be said for Mark Warburton. The recently departed manager struggled to get consistent performances out of his squad with his stubborn refusal to move away from a short passing 4-3-3 formation resulting in a number of key players performing way below the expected levels.
However, after suffering embarrassing defeats against Dundee and Inverness, Rangers appear to have turned a corner under the temporary charge of Graeme Murty. Displaying the character that was all too lacking under Warburton, Rangers snatched a dramatic winner against St Johnstone despite playing the final 20 minutes with ten men before smashing six past Hamilton in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.

And Martyn Waghorn, reborn under Murty after struggling to win over the previous boss, says the club has been transformed now the old regime has been washed away.
“Joey was Joey and he had things to say. That is what he’s like, but we can’t focus on that too much. He’s moved on and so have we,” Waghorn told the Daily Record.

“We’re a different team with different players and we’re a bit more dynamic now.
“We’re a lot more free-flowing than at the start of the season. There were a lot of changes in the summer and we took a bit of time to get going. We are younger, hungrier, and we all have an end goal.”
Victory away at Celtic in the league on Saturday would certainly send out a statement.
