Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister was full of praise for Gers‘ Academy duo Robby McCrorie and Nathan Patterson after they helped the Light Blues secure a place in the group stage of the Europa League.

After a number of Covid issues hit Steven Gerrard’s squad, the Academy graduates were both thrust into the starting XI as the Light Blues ground out a 0-0 draw on the night and go through 1-0 on aggregate.
Rangers will now take their place in today’s draw and McAllister picked out the performance of McCrorie and Patterson as two of the “big positives” from a tough night in Armenia.
“We have loads of belief in Robby and he didn’t let us down,” McAllister said.
“I thought he dealt with the ball well and the one awkward shot that came in low and bounced in front of him, I thought he handled that well.
“So it is a very good debut. Nathan [Patterson] too, who hasn’t featured a lot, it was another 90 minutes under his belt, so they would be the two big positives.”

Both could keep their place in the side for Sunday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox and it would be great to see two homegrown talents get the chance to shine for Rangers in Britain’s biggest derby.
McCrorie coped with the pressure of making his competitive debut for Rangers in such a high-pressure match well and will be hoping he can get some more opportunities to impress this season.
