Rangers are looking to add another summer signing to their ranks having started talks to snap up Zulte Waregem ace Abdoulaye Sissako.

Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure report that Rangers are now in talks to bring Sissako over to Ibrox.

It’s noted that Sissako is out of contract this summer but Zulte do have an option to extend his contract by another year.

That means that whilst Rangers may hope to bring Sissako to Glasgow, Zulte could yet try and block their move.

It is though noted that Sissako is keen to leave Zulte and try something new, with Rangers presenting the opportunity for a big move.

Zulte have endured a dismal season this term and now sit 16th in the Belgian top flight having won just eight games in 34.

Sissako has still managed to impress though, bagging two goals and two assists in 18 games for Zulte.

Formerly of Auxerre and Chateauroux, Sissako looked promising in France and picked up 20 caps for France across under-18 and under-19 levels.

Sissako then moved to Belgium in 2019 and, three years after that switch, may now be ready for a new challenge.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Sissako has also played a little further forward but is best in front of the back four.

Hailed as ‘excellent’ by former Zulte boss Francky Dury, the 23-year-old has shown real potential in Belgium and may be ready to move on.

After Zulte’s dreadful season, you can hardly blame Sissako for being attracted by a move to Rangers.

The Gers are title contenders and will be in Europe again next season, whilst they will have impressed many potential signings with their Europa League run.

Sissako may well be one of them, as trading Zulte for Rangers seems like a no-brainer right now.

With talks underway, don’t be surprised if Sissako ends up at Rangers this summer.
