Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie has admitted to The Scottish Sun that he is not sure about his future.

McCrorie, who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, has only just returned from a loan spell at Portsmouth in League One in England.

The 22-year-old spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Pompey from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

According to WhoScored, the Scotland Under-20 international made 13 starts and five substitute appearances in League One for Portsmouth this past season, providing three assists in the process.

McCrorie, who came through the youth ranks at Rangers, has admitted that he does not know if he will be at the Gers next season.

McCrorie told The Scottish Sun when asked about his future: “I’ve not really spoken to Steven Gerrard since I came back. I’m not sure what will happen because I’ve not been back here long enough yet.

“I’m just going to get my head down and work hard, because I’ve got a lot to prove. Then we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. I’ll need to think about it when the time comes if a loan opportunity comes up again.”

Rangers stay

McCrorie has had three loan spells already, and given that he is 22 years of age, he needs to start playing for the Rangers first team on a regular basis.

True, the Scotsman is still young, but in a season where the Gers will be desperate to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title, he will get chances if he stays at Ibrox, and he has to make the most of them.
