Rangers’ negative financial results will not affect the club’s recruitment plans, according to the Ibrox side’s assistant manager Gary McAllister.

Rangers this week announced losses of £14.3 million – which are around double last year’s figures.

But when asked how difficult it will be for Rangers to improve their playing staff whilst also having to balance the books, McAllister told the club’s official Youtube channel: “The thing is, the manager (Steven Gerrard) operates under a budget – it’s something I’m not party to.

“I think we’re in good hands, and that side takes care of itself.”

On whether Rangers have an eye on January additions, the 53-year-old said: “Do you know what, throughout the season we’ve got people here who are in the recruitment and are looking to better the club, better the squad, and whenever anybody becomes available in a moment when the transfer window opens, we’ve got to be in that market.

“We’ve got to try to keep making this a better place – a better place for fans to come and watch, a better team performance and better quality players.”

Rangers experienced a high turnover of players in the summer transfer window, the first at the club for Gerrard and McAllister.

A total of 15 new players arrived at Ibrox on either permanent or loan contracts, with 25 allowed to leave.

Rangers are currently fourth in the Scottish Premiership standings, but have enjoyed success on the continent, where they have yet to lose any of their 11 games this season.
