Rangers B star Leon King has opened up on yesterday’s 3-0 win over Edinburgh University in the Lowland League and admits his side had to be patient against the “well-drilled” students.
The Gers picked up their seventh win from eight league games in their maiden season playing in the fifth tier as goals from Lewis MacKinnon, Alex Lowry and Cole McKinnon sealed the three points.
King admits the Gers started a bit “slack” but credits the Gers’ opponents with making things difficult before Rangers took control and put the game to bed.
“I thought we started the game in the first-half a bit slack and unlike us but I think that was down to Edinburgh being well-organised and well-drilled and it was hard to break them down,” King told Rangers TV.
“Once the game started to get on we found a lot more gaps are we able to play our game. The pitch suited us and the way we wanted to play but with them sitting in a low block it made it difficult for us.
“It was just a matter of being patient and working passes and trying to play round them but we got there in the end.”
With a game in hand on league leaders Bonnyrigg Rose, Rangers B could top the table and prove doubters of the Colts pilot scheme wrong.
If Rangers can go on and win the Lowland League, it will put the SPFL in a very awkward position if they are then denied a shot at promotion into League Two.
However, that is still a long way off for Rangers to worry about and the Gers will just be hoping to continue their excellent form to start the campaign.
