Angel Rangel has made a strong start for Queens Park Rangers since signing from Swansea City.
Queens Park Rangers have often been criticised when signing players in the twilight of their career, but the acquisition of Angel Rangel has benefited the Hoops massively.
Even at the age of 35, Rangel has filled in at right-back for the injured Darnell Furlong with minimal fuss and his top-flight experience has helped QPR shore up their leaky defence.
R’s boss Steve McClaren will be delighted with Rangel’s contribution so far and the Spaniard will want to continue to showcase his abilities to the Rangers faithful.
Rangel looks confident and assured on the ball, provides a healthy attacking outlet down the right side and is strong in the tackle.
Statistically, QPR have shipped far fewer goals since Rangel has been in the side and the former Swansea City hero is quickly developing into a fan favourite.
Perhaps the only downside to Rangel’s signing is that McClaren will be losing him in January after his short-term deal expires.
In that time, it is expected that Furlong will be back to full fitness and can assume his role but Rangel’s involvement will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Rangel is expected to play when QPR take on Millwall at Loftus Road on Wednesday night and, if Rangers are to get a positive result, it is likely the defender’s contribution will play a major part.
