Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will soon have a new Tottenham Hotspur boss to impress, but the Danish press have slammed him.

Sunday was a strange day for Hojbjerg.

It ended with Tottenham parting ways with Antonio Conte, leaving Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason in charge.

Earlier in the day, Hojbjerg suffered embarrassment as Denmark crumbled against Kazakhstan.

The Danes went 2-0 up thanks to a Rasmus Hojlund brace and appeared to be coasting to victory.

Kazakhstan launched a stunning comeback though and ended up winning the game 3-2.

The Danish press are far from impressed, especially after their group stage exit at the World Cup, and Hojbjerg has been criticised.

Tottenham ace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg criticised

Ekstra Bladet were scathing, giving Hojbjerg a one out of six rating.

They noted that Hojbjerg should be ‘much, much better’ given his experience and suggested he couldn’t organise the midfield.

DR suggested that Hojbjerg was one of the Denmark players who struggled the most with the artificial pitch in Astana.

Tipsbladet were fuming too, stating that Hojbjerg ‘ran away from his responsibility’ and was ‘too poor’ on the ball.

Bold rated Hojbjerg at 3 out of 10, claiming that he made ‘too many mistakes’ as Denmark absolutely crumbled.

Other players were slated too but it’s clear that the Danish press expected much more from the Tottenham man,.

Hojbjerg is usually a solid and dependable performer for both Denmark and Tottenham but Sunday was a bad day.

With Tottenham no doubt moving for a new manager in the coming weeks, Hojbjerg will have to impress another Spurs boss soon enough.

Until then though, Hojbjerg must focus on getting Spurs into the Champions League – and will have to pick up his performance level after Sunday’s defeat.
