It’s been a very difficult season for Allan McGregor at Rangers.
The veteran goalkeeper has made a series of uncharacteristic mistakes which have cost Rangers in a major way.
Last week for instace, McGregor was majorly culpable for the two-goal lead that the Ibrox outfit surrendered at home to Motherwell.
At 40, the legendary keeper just might be losing his mojo and it makes you wonder if Steven Gerrard should’ve fought harder to keep Wes Foderingham.
The English goalkeeper was released by Rangers during the summer of 2020, before being snapped up by Sheffield United.
However, the 31-year-old reminded everyone of his talent with a brilliant penalty save in Friday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, keeping out Brennan Johnson.
Here’s how Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale reacted to his heroics on Twitter last night:
It was difficult for Gerrard to play Foderingham at Rangers more than he did because, well, McGregor has been outstanding for the most part during his four-year spell with the Gers.
However, everybody knew his age and that he wouldn’t be able to sustain that standard forever and maybe, just maybe, more of a balancing act should’ve been attempted by the former light Blues manager.
