Trevor Sinclair has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the rumour that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have resumed talks to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window.

What’s the story?

The Daily Star have reported today that Arsenal are back in for United goalkeeper Ramsdale.

The Gunners are now confident that they can sign the 23-year-old English goalkeeper from the Blades.

United want £35 million as transfer fee for Ramsdale.

The Gunners had ended talks last week, but now they are back in for the former Bournemouth goalkeeper.

TalkSPORT have claimed that Arsenal will make a bid of £28 million for the goalkeeper.

What does Trevor Sinclair think?

Former Manchester City winger Sinclair has responded to the speculation on Twitter, as you can see below.

Sinclair has reminded Arsenal that they sold goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa last summer, and have urged the Gunners to keep faith in their academy players.

The Gunners also sold midfielder Joe Willock to Newcastle United last week.

Martinez played well for Arsenal in the final weeks of the 2019-20 season, but the Gunners decided to keep Bernd Leno as the first-choice goalkeeper and sold the Argentine to Villa last summer.

Now, Arsenal could have kept Martinez, but you have to acknowledge that the goalkeeper himself probably wanted to leave for regular playing time.

Willock played regularly for Newcastle during his loan spell last season, and the midfielder probably thought that he could play more at the Magpies than at Arsenal.
