Celtic take on Rangers at the weekend in the second Old Firm derby of the season. The two are clashing in the League Cup semi-final this weekend with Celtic hoping to defeat Rangers by a similar scoreline as the last occasion.

Celtic though go into this game concerned after the 2-0 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. However, one former Celtic defender believes that the Old Firm game could be the perfect comeback fixture for the Bhoys.

Ramon Vega, who spent half a season on loan at Celtic Park, told Sky Sports News HQ (20/10/2016) this week that Celtic have the more talented team and should bounce back in the fixture:

“I think Celtic are definitely the better team. In terms of the quality players it is Celtic who are there.

“But again, in an Old Firm, it’s a derby and anything can happen on that day and Celtic just have to focus on the strength they have within their team.

“It should be a great recovery game after that defeat yesterday.”

Celtic of course won their last meeting in comfortable fashion – thrashing Rangers 5-1 in a highly anticipated fixture between the Old Firm rivals.

The Glasgow clubs did face off in the Scottish Cup semi-final last season though, and Rangers did come out on top after a penalty shootout.

Celtic will certainly be hoping that it is a case of more recent history proving true in this fixture.
