The Tottenham Hotspur hitman has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer.

Real Madrid's President Ramon Calderon announces his resignation to the press at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on January 16, 2009 in Madrid, Spain.

Former Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon spoke to reporters about the La Liga giant’s pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, and insisted that he remains their number one transfer target, ahead of Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewnadowski, as quoted by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 24-year-old hitman has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, with the Sun claiming that Los Blancos are lining up a mammoth £200 million bid for him.

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur gesticulates during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on February 25, 2018 in London, England.

Kane has been in sizzling form for the Lilywhites this season, banging in 35 goals in 26 outings in all competitions thus far, and he has firmly established himself as one of the most feared front-men on the continent in the process.

Whether the England international will remain in north London beyond the end of this season remains to be seen, and Calderon, who was president of Madrid from 2006-2009, explained the reason why he will be the Spanish club’s key target in the summer, as quoted by Calcio Mercato:

“I think Real’s goal is more Kane, also because of his age, but if it does not work out with him, I think Real is trying to get Lewandowski.”

Spurs have always insisted that Kane is not for sale, but it will be interesting to see if their stance changes if Madrid do in fact come in with an offer in the region of £200 million for his services in the summer.

Money talks, and that amount of cash will be seriously hard to turn down for Tottenham, especially with their expensive stadium move on the horizon.
