Jagielka returned to the Everton side as they won 3-0 against Cardiff.

Ramiro Funes Mori has applauded Everton defender Phil Jagielka on Instagram after the veteran defender returned to Marco Silva’s starting eleven for the 3-0 win over Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

The 36-year-old finally returned to the Everton side for the first time in the Premier League since November, helping relieve some of the pressure on Marco Silva’s shoulders.

A brace from Gylfi Sigurdsson and a late strike from Dom Calvert-Lewin gave Everton an excellent win away at Neil Warnock’s side, rising back into the top half of the Premier League table into ninth place.

Jagielka posted on Instagram after the match, describing the win as a “great result” and applauding both of the Toffees’ goalscorers with the pick of the bunch being Calvert-Lewin’s excellent finish after Idrissa Gueye put him through on goal.

Jagielka has struggled for game time this season, after Silva signed Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea and Yerry Mina from Barcelona. He has managed just three appearances this season.

Funes Mori left Everton last summer to join Spanish side Villarreal for £10million (Goal), and he applauded Jagielka for his display and his return to the side, commenting on his Instagram post: “Nice to see you back”.
