Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost 1-0 to Yorkshire and promotion rivals Sheffield United at Elland Road.
Victory would have given Leeds a five-point cushion in the automatic promotion places, but the defeats means that Bielsa’s troops are now third in the Championship.
It was a massive game in West Yorkshire and one that was decided by Chris Basham’s goal on 71 minutes, before the Whites’ goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was dismissed late on.
It’s a blow but certainly doesn’t kill Leeds’ chances of finishing in the top two, with only two points separating third-placed United from leaders Norwich, who visit Rotherham today.
