Tim Sherwood has said on Sky Sports News (2pm, October 16, 2021) that Newcastle United should try to get Ralph Hasenhuttl from Southampton.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has said that he is a big fan of Southampton boss Hasenhuttl.
The Sky Sports pundit has outlined what makes the 54-year-old Austrian so good, and believes that he would be a fantastic managerial appointment for Newcastle.
Sherwood said about Hasenhuttl on Sky Sports News (2pm, October 16, 2021):“I am a bit admirer of him. I like the way he plays. He has got a certain style of how he wants to play.
“I think that he has got real character. When things are going wrong, he looks like he can’t wait to get in the dressing room to ruffle a few feathers.
“He is one of Ralf Rangnick’s boys, Leipzig boys. I think he is a good choice if Newcastle want a manager, I think there is one there for you. I think he would be fantastic.”

Good shout, but unlikely to happen
You know what? Hasenhuttl is actually not a bad shout in regard to the Newcastle managerial role.
Yes, the Austrian manager has suffered two heavy defeats at Southampton so far in his career.
Yes, the Saints are essentially a team who fight for survival under Hasenhuttl.

But, we cannot deny that Hasenhuttl has a clear identify and knows what he wants from his players in terms of playing style.
In our view, Hasenhuttl would be a good managerial appointment for Newcastle, especially if he is given money to spend to better the current squad.
Now, of course, the 54-year-old Austrian is not at the level of Antonio Conte, but he could steer the ship in the short term.
However, we do not think that Hasenhuttl will leave Southampton for Newcastle now.
The Saints are unlikely to let the Austrian leave during the season.
Amanda Staveley and co. will know that getting the Austrian out of Southampton will not be easy.
