Celtic appear to be closing in on Southampton’s Fraser Forster.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl looks dejected following the Premier League match between Burnley FC and Southampton FC at Turf Moor on August 10, 2019 in Burnley, United Kingdom.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has hinted to The Scottish Sun that goalkeeper Fraser Forster is on his way to Celtic.

The Saints have virtually frozen out Forster over the last 18 months to two years, with even different managers choosing not to use him.

His decline started under Mauricio Pellegrino, continued under Mark Hughes and now, his time on the South Coast looks set to end under Hasenhuttl.

Celtic have agreed a loan deal with Southampton for Forster to re-join them, five years since he left Parkhead to sign for the Saints.

Forster, 31, was a star in four years at Celtic, and with Neil Lennon having problems in goal, he’s set to bring the Englishman back to Glasgow.

Radio Bauer’s Lorraine Herbison has even posted a photo on Twitter of Forster in Glasgow, ready to finalise his return to Parkhead in an emotional move.

Now, Southampton boss Hasenhuttl has been asked about the matter, and after somewhat dancing around the subject of Forster joining Celtic, he was quizzed whether the goalkeeper was at Celtic today to join them.

He offered just one word in response, saying ‘maybe’ whilst having a smile on his face, which seems to be a major hint that the giant goalkeeper is returning to the Bhoys imminently.
