Southampton earned a valuable three points against Everton yesterday.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl spoke to reporters after his side’s impressive 2-1 win over Everton yesterday, and praised the performance of his team, despite sharing one thing that disappointed him, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Saints have made huge strides since the Austrian took over as manager at St Mary’s at the start of last month, and they now sit in 15th position in the Premier League table, three points clear of the relegation zone.

It seems as though the former RB Leipzig boss has instilled much needed confidence back into the Southampton players, and their willingness to put in a shift is night and day from Mark Hughes’s reign at the south coast club.

Hasenhüttl addressed the media after yesterday’s win, and suggested that his side should have been more prolific in front of goal, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“Back-to-back wins are always very important and I think so far it was the best performance I have seen until now. With the ball and against the ball it was a very committed performance. We could have scored four or five times minimum today, however, and we hit the post twice.”

Southampton now have 10 days off before they are in action again, when they welcome Crystal Palace to St Mary’s for what will essentially be a relegation six pointer.

And the way they have been play of late, it would be no surprise to see them chalk up their third successive league victory.
