Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl raved about the quality of James Ward-Prowse, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, suggesting that the midfielder is the ‘complete package’, and is perfect for the style that he is trying to implement.

The 24-year-old seems to have found a new lease of life since the Austrian took over at St Mary’s in December, scoring four goals in his last seven appearances for the Saints.

He was a key figure for Hasenhüttl’s side against Fulham on Wednesday night, helping his team achieve a valuable three points – a result that moved them out of the bottom three.

Southampton now have every chance of avoiding the drop, but Ward-Prowse and co cannot afford to relax just yet.

Hasenhüttl explained just how important the 24-year-old is to his team, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, highlighting how much of a goal threat he has become recently:

“I think he shows in every game that he’s not only a hard-working guy, but he can also come into positions where he has the chance to score. Against Arsenal, he had two situations where he could score, so it’s not a coincidence that he’s scored four times – maybe he’s in a position that’s a little bit more offensive-orientated that allows him to score a little bit more. He’s the complete package at the moment that fits perfectly in our game.”

Next up for Southampton is a tricky trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United tomorrow, and Ward-Prowse will have to be on his very best form, if Hasenhüttl’s men are to have any chance of returning to the south coast with a positive result to show for their efforts.
