Southampton are currently in all sorts of trouble.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing home defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday, and guaranteed that he will be making changes to his defensive setup before their next game in two weeks time, as quoted by Reuters.
The Saints are currently bang in trouble, and as things stand, they sit in 18th spot in the Premier League table, behind 17th placed Newcastle United due to an inferior goal difference.
Southampton have undoubtedly made huge strides since Hasenhüttl took over at St Mary’s at the start of December, but their recent run of just two points from their last three games will be a real concern for the Austrian.
When speaking to reporters, the former RB Leipzig chief outlined his plan to address his side’s recent dip in form, however, as quoted by Reuters:
“We must do everything to have clean sheets. I tell them every week, because we can score and always have chances. That’s the focus on next week, I can guarantee you. I will also make a few changes to the defence, that’s for sure.”
Things don’t get any easier for Southampton, with games against Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all to come in their next four outings, so if they are to move away from the relegation places over the next month or so, they will need to be at their very best in every single department of the pitch.
