Ralf Rangnick was allegedly interested in a move to Newcastle United – but he could end up becoming Manchester United boss down the line.
Eurosport claim that Rangnick is on a potential list of candidates to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Solskjaer is under huge pressure after some poor results and performances of late.
Yet with Antonio Conte now at Tottenham Hotspur and Zinedine Zidane allegedly not interested, United would have to look elsewhere.
This report claims that Brendan Rodgers is one option, but Rangnick is also viewed as a potential replacement.
Rangnick hasn’t been a permanent manager since leaving Schalke in 2011. He has held the interim spot at RB Leipzig twice, but has mostly worked in Red Bull’s football operations.
Rangnick fancied Newcastle job
This isn’t the first English job Rangnick has been linked with of late having been touted for a move to Newcastle United.
The Chronicle reported last month that Rangnick was interested in a move to St James’ Park.
Rangnick wasn’t viewed as a managerial candidate, but actually as a director of football at Newcastle.
That job now looks set to go to Michael Emenalo, whilst Eddie Howe is in as Newcastle boss.
The German has been hugely influential in German football, and could end up going up against Newcastle in the future if he does head to Old Trafford.
