Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been named as the Premier League player of the month for August.
The forward endured a difficult summer, to say the least, as he received widespread criticism for his performances with England at Euro 2016.
After public backing from new City manager Pep Guardiola, though, he has started the new campaign in a rich vein of form.

He has starred in all of his side’s games so far, playing a key role in their perfect start under Guardiola and looking nothing like the player that struggled so badly in France this summer.
His performances have clearly not gone unnoticed either, as he was named the first player of the month this year ahead of Eden Hazard, Antonio Valencia and Curtis Davies.

He managed two goals in his three games, as well as securing the winning penalty in the opening day win over Sunderland.
He also managed four key passes, joint top of any City player, as well as 100 accurate passes in total, 43 of which were in the final third.
He also topped the club’s dribbling charts, registering 17 contests in total and winning 10 of them.
