Arsenal will be in Europa League action later this week.
Tottenham hero Rafael van der Vaart has re-affirmed his commitment to the club by mocking Arsenal with his latest Twitter post.
Van der Vaart joined Spurs from Real Madrid in 2010, with Tottenham paying just £8million for the Dutchman, as noted by The Telegraph.
With the exorbitant fees around these days, that £8million fee looks like even more of a bargain than it did more than eight years ago.
Van der Vaart only spent just over two years at White Hart Lane, but was a fan favourite with 28 goals in 77 games before being sold back to former club Hamburg by Andre Villas-Boas in 2012.
Van der Vaart rounded off his career with Real Betis, Midtjylland and Esbjerg before retiring in November 2018, and he has remained a Spurs favourite long since his departure.
The former playmaker turned 36 on Monday, and whilst posting thanks for so many birthday messages on Twitter, he couldn’t resist a dig at Arsenal.
Van der Vaart noted that his former clubs Ajax and Real Madrid meet in the Champions League this week whilst Tottenham are also playing in Europe’s elite competition.
Van der Vaart then rounded it off by mocking Arsenal as they will be playing in the Europa League on Thursday, even posting a video of a goal he scored for Hamburg against Arsenal to go with it.
