Could Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers or Celtic have Rafael van der Vaart playing for them in the future?
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has revealed to The Sunday Post that he is open to joining Celtic or Rangers in the future.
Van der Vaart is on the books of FC Midtjylland at the moment and has a contract with the Danish club until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 33-year-old has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe, such as Madrid, Tottenham and Ajax.
The Dutchman has revealed that if he was offered the chance to play for Celtic or Rangers, then he would seriously consider it.

“Playing in Denmark with FC Midtjylland has been another experience for me to try,” Van der Vaart told The Sunday Post. “It’s one of many countries I’ve played football in. I’ve not had the opportunity to play in Scotland – but we’ll see what the future offers.
“I like Scotland, and I’ve had many team-mates at club and international level talk so highly about the passion and the rivalry that exists.
“They often spoke about Celtic and Rangers, and it does appear to be something quite special. So, for sure, if something was put to me, then I’d look at it.
“I’m still fit, I’m still young enough and still want to play at the highest level possible. So I would never say never.”

Van der Vaart is 33 years of age, and although he is past his prime, the attacking midfielder still has a few years left at the highest level.
While many Rangers fans would love to see the two-time Dutch champion play at Ibrox, the harsh truth is that his wages would be beyond the club’s means.
Celtic is the only club in Scotland that could genuinely attract Van der Vaart, especially if they are able to progress to the group stage of the Champions League next season.
