Abraham was Villa’s main goalscorer last season in the Championship, but it seems unlikely that Dean Smith’s side will be able to get him back on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
Villa are now looking for other additions and in Leao they may have found an even more exciting buy.
Leao is still only 20, but he has already been compared to Kylian Mbappe on BBC Sport, as he is absolutely rapid.
Leao proved capable of leading the line in the French top division at the age of just 19 last year, and he appears to be the complete forward.
Tall, strong and quick, Leao can bludgeon his way past defences, but he also has a great deal of technical ability.
Leao still needs to become more of a goalscoring threat, but he has so much potential that he will almost certainly develop into a clinical finisher.
And if Villa could pull the transfer off it may well be the most exciting piece of business they complete all summer.
