Benitez knew that if Newcastle signed Musonda, they could not have Kenedy on loan from Chelsea, due to Premier League rules.
And the Spanish boss has been rewarded for showing great patience.
Newcastle took a risk by waiting for Kenedy, but the Brazilian’s start at St. James’ Park has shown he his worth the wait.
Kenedy has rapidly become a vital player for Newcastle, with his form catching the eye.
The Chelsea loanee hit two goals in Newcastle’s last match, as the Magpies got past Southampton.
Kenedy now could even move to Tyneside on a permanent basis, and Benitez must feel like his gamble of waiting has really paid off.
