Siem de Jong looks set to be leaving Newcastle United for Ajax in the summer transfer window.

According to the report, De Jong is in talks with Dutch giants Ajax over a move in the summer transfer window.
When asked about De Jong’s proposed return to Ajax, Benitez told The Shields Gazette: “He’s one of the players talking with another club. We are waiting.”

De Jong joined Newcastle from Ajax in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee reported by The Express to be worth £6 million.
The 28-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward, arrived at St. James’ Park with a strong reputation.
Much was expected of the Netherlands international at Newcastle, but he had injury and fitness issues.

During last season when Newcastle were playing in the Championship after getting relegated from the Premier League, De Jong was playing for Dutch club PSV on loan.
The Dutchman would have been a success for the Magpies had he not had injury and fitness problems, and from Benitez’s comments, it seems that he is on his way out of St. James’ Park.
Newcastle are back in the Premier League this season, but the Magpies are not going to miss De Jong if he leaves for Ajax this summer.
