Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has told The Northern Echo that he likes Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend.
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle are interested in signing Townsend from Palace in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old winger joined the Eagles from the Magpies in the summer of 2016 following Benitez’s side’s relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Townsend had joined Newcastle from North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur only in January 2016.

Benitez has said that he likes Townsend, but the Newcastle manager has not revealed whether he wants to sign the winger this month.
“You know I like Andros but at the moment no news, we are happy with the squad,” Benitez told The Northern Echo. “We have to try to find something that gives more balance. As a manager you always want to improve.”

Townsend has scored one goal and created 24 chances in 21 Premier League appearances for Palace so far this season.
The winger did quite well during his time at Newcastle, and he would be a decent signing for the Magpies.
The question is whether the St. James’ Park faithful would be open to the idea of the England international playing for the club again.
Newcastle are second in the Championship table at the moment with 58 points from 27 matches, two points behind leaders Brighton & Hove Albion.
