West Ham United have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has told The Mirror that he can assure fans that Jonjo Shelvey isn’t signing for West Ham United this month.
Shelvey, 27, has been a key player for Benitez since joining forces in 2016, picking up one goal and three assists in the Premier League last term.
Some called for Shelvey to be included in England’s World Cup squad over the summer due to his playmaking ability, but he currently has no chance of breaking into Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Shelvey has endured a stop-start season so far this term, struggling with injuries and even with competition for places in the heart of Benitez’s midfield.
That has resulted in talk of a move away from St James’ Park this month, as The Express report that West Ham have offered £10million for Shelvey – but that offer has been rejected.
Shelvey grew up supporting West Ham, so after a season of frustration so far, a move to join his boyhood club may be somewhat appealing.

However, boss Benitez has attempted to put an end to the rumours with just 11 words, believing that Shelvey won’t be heading to the London Stadium or anywhere else this month.
“Yes,” said Benitez when asked if he could guarantee that Shelvey would be staying. “The idea is to keep as much as we can,” he added, appearing to rule out the possibility of a deal.
