Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka is attracting major interest.
Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has told The Chronicle that he understands agent Pavel Zika has to do his job having made comments about Martin Dubravka.
The Magpies swooped to take Dubravka on loan from Sparta Prague in January 2018, and he arrived as a relative unknown despite being a Slovakian international.
Dubravka has now established himself as a fan favourite at Newcastle having exceeded expectations, whilst he made his move permanent last summer.
Now one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League, Dubravka is attracting interest, with The Chronicle claiming over the weekend that Arsenal want him this summer.
Last month, Dubravka’s agent Pavel Zika talked up a possible move away from the club, telling Ruik that a top Premier League club – seemingly Arsenal – are pursuing his signature.
Zika noted that Juventus want Dubravka too, whilst there is interest from a German club, but Dubravka isn’t interested in making a move to the Bundesliga.
Now, Benitez has offered his reaction, suggesting that Zika has a job to do in terms maximising his player’s potential, but feels that Dubravka is ‘OK’ and not distracted at all, whilst feeling that interest is natural when a player is performing so well.
“Agents have to do their jobs, but Martin is OK,” said Benitez. “For me, he is fully concentrated on his job, and it’s like when people ask me about players like Salomon Rondon. Players may finish contracts and will have to go back. But in this case, Martin still has a contract here.”
“And because he is doing well people start talking about them so that is good news for us. But the best way for the player to carry on with good publicity is to do your job properly. So it’s making saves or scoring goals for us for others,” he added.
