Rafael Benitez has almost a fully fit squad to chose from at Newcastle United.

Rafael Benitez has confirmed ‘good news’ for Newcastle United in the Chronicle, with both Jesus Gamez and Florian Lejeune returning to fitness.
Newcastle are currently without a number of first-team players, due to injury.
However, Islam Slimani, Gamez and Lejeune are all set to return in the near future – which makes Benitez’s options look a lot stronger.
And the Spanish boss confirmed that he has held discussions with Gamez over his fitness recently.

“Gamez is getting better,” Benitez revealed.
“I was talking to him and he says he feels better.
“Lejeune has also been training with the team and that’s also good news.”
Gamez and Lejeune have both struggled badly with injury this season, with neither really able to show their top form at St. James’ Park.

Gamez arrived back in 2016, but he has only played a handful of matches during his time in the North East, while Lejeune arrived last summer.
Gamez has played just three times across all competitions, and Lejeune has made just 12 appearances in the Premier League.
Newcastle’s next match comes against Manchester United on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether either of the returning defensive pair will come back into the Magpies’ starting line-up.
