Florian Lejeune joined Newcastle United from Eibar in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has spoken highly of Florian Lejeune to The Shields Gazette.
Lejeune joined Premier League club Newcastle from Spanish side Eibar in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Shields Gazette to be worth £8 million.
The 26-year-old has played just once in the Premier League for the Magpies so far this season.
There have been injury concerns for the former Girona defender, but Newcastle manager Benitez seems to rate him highly and has praised his ability to play with the ball.

“He will be another player that in the end I will be very happy with because he is very professional,” Benitez told The Shields Gazette about Lejeune.
“On the ball he is quite comfortable, and he can also win balls in the air. In terms of improving our possession statistics, maybe he can help with things like that.”

Lejeune is a very good defender, and given his ability with the ball and to play out from the back, he does bring something extra to the team.
Newcastle are playing in the Premier League this season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Magpies are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from seven matches, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
