Newcastle United’s development squad have finished second bottom in their league this season.

Newcastle’s first team have enjoyed a fine first season back at Premier League level, but their under-23’s have been less impressive.

The Magpies have finished second bottom of their league, and Benitez has failed to really have any youngsters pushing for a first-team place.
Newcastle have, instead, loaned out many of their most promising prospects – with the likes of Adam Armstrong and Ivan Toney enjoying productive spells in League One.

And Benitez has become so frustrated with Newcastle’s lack of progress at youth level, that a big shake-up will take place this summer, according to reports.
Newcastle are set to release many members of their current under-23 squad, with Mo Sangare, Nathan Harker, and Tyrique Bartlett all named as players who will be promoted from the under-18 set-up.
