Newcastle United could finish in the top 10 of the Premier League table this season.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has revealed to The Mirror what his ideal squad would be.
Benitez has guided Newcastle to Premier League safety for the 2018-19 campaign, and the Magpies could even end up in the top half of the table this season.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea manager has outlined what his ideal squad would be, and has admitted that he cannot have that at St. James’ Park at the moment.

“The ideal situation is to have around 22 players and then three players from the academy that have the potential to do well,” Benitez told The Mirror. “Can we do that? I don’t think we can do that at the moment.”
“So we have to manage. What you need is more quality in the squad to be sure you have 20 or whatever that can play any game.”

Summer signings needed
Newcastle have a decent group of players, but for the Magpies to progress and move higher up the Premier League table in the coming years, they do need to make signings in the transfer windows.
If the Magpies want to finish in the top 10 or the top eight comfortably next season, then they will have to bring in quality players in the summer transfer window.
Benitez has done well with the resources he has got at Newcastle at the moment, but for the former Real Madrid head coach to be really successful at St. James’ Park, he needs more and should be given more.
