Aleksandar Mitrovic was not even in Newcastle United’s squad for their match against Burnley yesterday.

Rafael Benitez simply cannot keep ignoring Aleksandar Mitrovic, as Newcastle United’s striking problems continue.
Benitez has barely given Mitrovic a chance this season, with the Serbian striker having played just 30 minutes of Premier League football.
Mitrovic was not even in Newcastle’s squad against Burnley last night, and his absence was felt.

The Magpies were unable to break down a resilient Burnley backline, and they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Benitez has generally used Joselu as his main striker this season, but the Spanish forward has shown little in the way of quality.
Joselu still only has two goals to his name, and his performance at Turf Moor was completely ineffective.

It is now time that Benitez turns to Mitrovic and gives the 23-year-old another chance to impress at St. James’ Park.
While there will always be a concern over Mitrovic’s discipline, he surely is a better option than Joselu at this moment in time.
And Benitez needs to give Mitrovic another chance, as his decision to constantly overlook the former Anderlecht man is currently hurting Newcastle.
