Everton and Newcastle United were both linked with Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet during the summer transfer window.

If Rafael Benitez is appointed by Everton, then it may boost the Toffees’ chances of being able to sign Dennis Praet from Sampdoria.
Everton have performed below expectations so far this term, with Koeman’s side not exactly catching the eye.
And Everton’s board are now said to be considering putting Newcastle United boss Benitez in charge.

Benitez has performed an impressive job at Newcastle, and is regarded as one of the best options in the Premier League.
And Everton may just be boosted in their pursuit of Praet, if they are to land Benitez.

Praet was said to be more keen to move to Newcastle, as he wants to work with Benitez.
In the end, Newcastle opted against signing Praet too, as the midfielder was, perhaps, out of their price range.
But Everton would be able to afford his £18.5 million price-tag (Chronicle), and with Benitez in charge, it may mean that the Toffees become the 23-year-old’s first choice destination.
