Newcastle United are expected to invest in the January transfer window.
Rafael Benitez has told the Chronicle that he doesn’t expect any incoming transfers to Newcastle United to be completed in the immediate future.
Newcastle are expected to make additions in the January transfer window, as they look to protect their place in the automatic promotion spaces in the Championship table.
However, Benitez insists that Newcastle are some way away from completing a deal for any player at this moment in time.
“I don’t see anything early because we tried a couple of things,” Benitez said.
“Normally all of the teams are trying to do something so the agents wait a little bit and expect the best offer possible.
“I think we will see someone coming in, but I can’t say it will be on January 1.”
Benitez is set to be backed with funds to make some additions in January, with Premier League quality players reportedly being targeted.
Newcastle have been linked with a whole host of midfielders already, as they look to strengthen the quality of options available to them.
The Magpies reportedly want Everton’s Tom Cleverley, Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Manchester City’s Fabian Delph (The Sun).
Newcastle are currently sat at the top of the Championship table, with their next match coming against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park later today.
