Newcastle United have failed to win any of their last six matches.

Rafael Benitez has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Newcastle United’s match against Chelsea, that he feels the only problem the Magpies are having at the moment is the fact they are in the Premier League.

Newcastle became accustomed to winning as they lifted the Championship title last season, but they have been given a reminder of how tough things are in the top flight recently.

Newcastle begun the campaign impressively, but a run of six matches without a win has caused concern.

Newcastle were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and were throughout outclassed during the contest.

But Benitez was keen not to fuss too much over the reasons for his side’s current poor run of form.

“We are in the Premier League. That’s the problem. It’s simple.” he said.

Benitez’s side still have a cushion over the drop zone, but they will need to get back to winning ways soon, if they are to avoid being caught.

Newcastle are currently five points clear of 18th placed Crystal Palace, and they will not want that gap to close any further in the coming weeks.

Newcastle’s next match comes against Leicester City at St. James’ Park next weekend.
