Benitez will be the Newcastle manager next season as the Magpies prepare for life in the Championship.
The Magpies got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The fans are understandably disappointed, but they all seem to back the Spaniard to get the team back to the English top flight.
Benitez has revealed that he wants to have a close relationship with the fans like he had at Liverpool.
The former Valencia coach is still very popular with the Anfield faithful, having guided the Reds to Champions League glory back in 2005.
“We want to bring fans closer to the club and to the players, we are all a team together,” Benitez told The Chronicle. “And the club is also a really big part of the city and the community.”
“I have really good relationships and friendships with the people of Liverpool and Merseyside,” added the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss. “I want to develop the same in Newcastle.”
In recent times, there has been a disconnect between Newcastle fans and the team, but it seems that Benitez is determined to bring the supporters closer.
Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in England and regularly attract around 50,000 fans for their home games at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies will not find it easy to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.
