Newcastle United are set to take on Watford at Vicarage Road in their next match.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez looks on during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Burnley at Old Trafford on December 26, 2017 in Manchester, England.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has hinted to the Chronicle that he will make changes for Newcastle United’s match against Watford this weekend.

Newcastle have shown signs of fatigue in recent weeks, after achieving Premier League safety.

The Magpies won four matches in a row to get to 41 points and ensure their place in the top tier next season.

However, Newcastle have lost to Everton and West Bromwich Albion in their last two matches.

And Benitez has suggested that he could freshen things up when his side travel to Vicarage Road this weekend.

“Our idea is to try to get three points in every game, but especially after two defeats we want to do well,” Benitez said.

“It is difficult after what we have achieved but we will make some changes to keep players on their toes

“I was tempted to repeat the team, I was then tempted to change players, but now we will make maybe a couple of changes to give people an opportunity. [Ciaran] Clark & [Christian] Atsu have problems with injuries. The rest are fine.”

The likes of Jacob Murphy and Chancel Mbemba may now be hoping that Benitez gives them the nod now.

Newcastle are currently 10th place in the Premier League table, and now will be aiming to protect their place in the top half.

After taking on Watford, Newcastle face tough tests against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea before the end of the campaign.
