Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is hoping to be backed with funds to make additions next month.

Newcastle were held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at St. James’ Park, with Benitez’s side struggling to create many chances against the Premier League’s leakiest defence.
The Magpies just could not do enough going forward to threaten Fulham.
And Benitez has dropped his clearest hint yet about his January plans for the Magpies.
“It was clear [additions are needed]. We have been working on that in different positions, not just the striker,” he said.
“We have to be more precise in the final third to make sure that the striker has more chances, or more clear chances.”
Whether Benitez will have the money required to bring in the additions he wants at Newcastle remains to be seen.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley wants to sell up, but any deal looks unlikely to take place before the start of next month.
If Benitez isn’t given funds then it will put his future at Newcastle into further doubt.
The Spanish boss’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and it seems unlikely that he will sign a new contract any time soon, unless he is given significant backing.
