Newcastle United are set to be active in the January transfer window, if Rafael Benitez’s comments are anything to go by.

Newcastle were beaten 3-0 by West Ham United in their most recent outing, as their good run of form crashed to an end.
Newcastle had won three matches on the bounce to push on up the table, but they were outclassed by West Ham in front of their own fans.
And when asked whether the result was a reminder that Newcastle needed to business in January, Benitez said: “It does not remind me because we knew already.
“We knew the players they had and how it would be a dangerous game for us, especially on the counter.
“Everything that happened [against West Ham], we knew could happen and that’s my disappointment. We didn’t prevent the problem we knew we could see on the pitch.”
Benitez’s comments suggest that transfers are certainly on the agenda at Newcastle.

The Magpies were quiet in the summer, with Benitez only having a limited budget to spend.
It remains to be seen whether Mike Ashley will hand out more funds to the Newcastle boss in the new year.
If Newcastle are able to enter the market for new signings in January then strengthening their attack is likely to be Benitez’s main priority.
Newcastle are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, and sit three points above the drop zone.
