Newcastle United duo Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar appear to have no future at St. James’ Park.

Rafael Benitez has told the Shields Gazette that Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons and full-back Achraf Lazaar will both be training with the under-23’s.

Aarons and Lazaar have both previously been part of Newcastle’s senior side, but they have been demoted.

The Magpies tried to ship out the pair during the summer transfer window, but failed to do so.

And Benitez has seemingly suggested that there is no way back for either of the Newcastle duo now.

“They will stay over there (with the Under-23s),” said Benitez. “If they’re over there, it’s because we told them we need to find a solution.”

Aarons once showed real glimpses of promise as a youngster, but a succession of injury problems have plagued the wide-man.

Aarons just hasn’t been able to get a consistent run of starts at St. James’ Park, and a move could be best for his development.

Lazaar, meanwhile, has never really shown the quality required to break into Newcastle’s line-up, with Benitez having better options in his position now.
