Rafael Benitez has “no idea” how much he has to work with at Newcastle United.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he has “no idea” what his transfer budget is at Newcastle United this month.
The Spanish manager gave himself a self-imposed deadline of January 20 to sign new players this month and, despite lots of speculation, nobody has signed for the Magpies as of yet.
It was reported by The Chronicle this week that the Newcastle boss was in the dark over how much he had to spend in the transfer window.

And Benitez has confirmed this fact to Sky Sports during his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s visit of Swansea City.
He said: “The last time we [him and Ashley] talked, we talked about different players and trying to move forward.
“I talk to Lee Charnley everyday, but no idea [on any budget] but still working.”

It really is quite worrying that Benitez has a little over a week left to conclude his transfer business and the former Liverpool boss, in his own words, still has “no idea” how much he has.
Such a farcical situation shouldn’t surprise Newcastle fans, given what happened during the summer, but it’s very important that United sign players this month.
Benitez’s side are only two points above the relegation zone and you wonder if another relegation is on the cards this season without the addition of new players – especially a striker.
