Newcastle United will move back to the top of the Championship if they beat Wigan Athletic later this evening.
Rafael Benitez has confirmed to the Shields Gazette that Ayoze Perez will return to Newcastle United’s first-team squad against Wigan Athletic later this evening.
Newcastle are set to travel to the DW Stadium later tonight, as they look to reclaim their place at the top of the Championship table.
Brighton & Hove Albion won at Blackburn Rovers last night, to put the pressure on Benitez’s side.

Newcastle go into their match against Wigan as favourites, and they are boosted by the news that Perez is back.
The Spanish striker missed out on playing against Birmingham City last weekend, but the Magpies did not miss the Spaniard.
Newcastle managed to run out 4-0 winners over Gary Rowett’s side, but Benitez still intends to bring Perez back into his match day squad later this evening – rather than name a totally unchanged line-up.

“Ayoze is fine,” said Benitez. “He has been training with the team and will be in the squad. “The others are more or less the same and we don’t want to push.”
Perez seems likely to start on the bench against Wigan, as Mohamed Diame was excellent against Birmingham.
Perez has netted six goals in 18 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions this season.
